Ahead of new album ‘Lore’, Black Orchid Empire release new track ‘Scissormouth’.

BLACK ORCHID EMPIRE create huge, memorable rock music that combines heavy-hitting savagery with intense melodic beauty. Their technical, fearlessly complex grooves and gigantic sing-along choruses have already earned them a widespread fanbase. A ferociously tight live band, BLACK ORCHID EMPIRE have toured Europe and the UK extensively, supporting Skunk Anansie, HED P.E, INME, Cellar Darling and Black Map as well as festival slots at Download, Standon Calling, Tech Fest, Mangata Festival, Teddy Rocks and Planet Rockstock. Following on from album releases with Long Branch Records and Season Of Mist, the band recently signed with Year Of The Rat Records landing support from BBC Radio 1, Spotify, Apple Music, Knotfest, PROG, and Kerrang and now release fifth single ‘Scissormouth’ on the 13th February ahead of their new album ‘LORE’ which drops on the 8th May 2026.

Paul Visser – “The myth of Kuchisake-Onna is so dark and unsettling we immediately knew it had to be a song! The Slit-Mouthed Woman of Japanese folklore is a scissor-carrying malicious demon who asks ‘do you think I’m beautiful?’ There is no answer that doesn’t result in horror…We love this tune and had so much fun with the imagery. The ending is especially brutal. Check it out!”
